A40 corridor resurfacing
Three weeks of night shifts ahead of a resurfacing scheme. 3,100 services located and 41 uncharted connections added to the client's asset model before the first cut.
Ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic tracing and survey-grade positioning — drawn to PAS 128 and issued as CAD your design team can build from. One survey, no surprises on site.
Radar and tracing run side by side along the line of the works. Every service found is marked out on the surface and drawn with its depth.
Records, radar and tracing used together — because a single method always leaves gaps. Tell us what you are building and we will recommend the lowest quality level that still keeps your site safe.
The recognised UK standard for buried services — located, classified and drawn to quality level D, C or B, whichever your risk assessment and design actually require.
Non-invasive radar sweeps that find plastic, concrete, clay and fibre services a CAT and genny simply cannot see, at depths down to four metres.
Transmitter and receiver tracing of metallic pipes and cables, confirmed at the surface with survey-grade positioning to millimetre accuracy.
Manhole, connectivity and condition surveys so inverts, levels and routes are known before the excavator arrives on site.
Site detail, levels and structures captured to a consistent control network, ready to drop straight into your design model.
Layered AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Revit outputs with a written survey report, quality level and a clear confidence assessment for every service.
From a compact van pack unit for blocked drains up to a full JetVac tanker for sewers and culverts — the right equipment for every pipe.
No mystery, no waiting for an update. You get a named surveyor, a programme before mobilisation, and a report that says plainly what was found and how sure we are.
We review your drawings, order record plans from the asset owners and confirm scope, quality level and access arrangements before anyone leaves the office.
EML tracing and GPR sweeps on a controlled grid, tied to survey-grade GNSS or total station. Findings are marked out on site as they are confirmed.
Radar data is interpreted by a surveyor and cross-checked between methods. Every service is given a confidence level before anything is drafted.
PAS 128 drawings, a 3D model where you need one, and a plain-English report flagging conflicts, unmapped services and areas to treat with care.
Live carriageways, tight city plots, working farms and occupied estates all need a different plan. We have surveyed all of them, and the paperwork comes with us.
Service avoidance drawings and marked-up plans for site teams breaking ground.
PAS 128 mapping ahead of piling, foundations and estate infrastructure.
Corridor surveys, night shifts and traffic-managed works on live networks.
Cable routes, grid connections and array footprints from field to substation.
Duct, chamber and spine tracing for new build and network upgrade works.
Live-site surveys planned around term dates, wards and public access.
A survey is only worth what it saves you on site. These are the projects where detection work changed the plan before the first dig.

A tight city plot with Victorian drainage and a live fibre spine. The PAS 128 survey redefined the piling exclusion zones and moved two pile positions before works started.
Cable routes and existing field drainage mapped across the whole array footprint, giving the civils team one drawing set to design trenches against.
“Two uncharted services turned up on day one of excavation. Sub Surveys UK had already drawn both, so the site team knew exactly where to hand-dig from the outset.”
Contracts Manager · Regional groundworks contractor
“Every service came with a confidence level, which is what our temporary works designer actually needed. No guesswork, no ambiguous lines on a drawing.”
Principal Civil Engineer · Consulting engineer
“Six days for 180 acres, and the CAD set dropped straight into our design model. That almost never happens on a programme like this.”
Project Manager · Renewables developer
If your question is not here, call and speak to a surveyor — not a call handler.
PAS 128 is the UK specification for detecting, verifying and locating underground utilities. A survey to this standard combines records research with site detection, and reports each service at a stated quality level.
It depends on your risk assessment and what you are building. QL-D uses records only, QL-C adds a visible-features check, and QL-B adds detection on site. We will recommend the lowest level that keeps your site safe.
Standard turnaround for reports is 48 hours after site work. Site time depends on area, access and the quality level, so we confirm a programme in your quote.
A site address or postcode, a red-line boundary or drawing if you have one, the planned works and dates, and access details such as permits and traffic management.
Yes. We survey across England, Scotland and Wales from our office in Charfield, South Gloucestershire.
Layered CAD drawings (.dwg/.dxf), a written report with the quality level and a confidence assessment for every service, and a 3D model or point cloud where required.
Most quotes go out the same working day. Tell us the site, the works and the dates — we will come back with a fixed price, a programme and the quality level we would recommend.
